It took me a while to decide how to best use the My Crush book. I thought about it for a while before deciding on using it as a journal to record my wild edibles and foraging journey.
Why foraging? I recently took a class on wild edibles and was inspired to add these to my family’s diet; to increase the nutritional content but also to displace food that might be GMOs or full of pesticides. This will encourage us to be out in nature more often, as well.
I left the first page unaltered. You can’t get any more inspirational than, “Hello I AM Awesome”. The next page describes my motivation for wild edibles to keep me going and remind me of the reasons to continue foraging.
The “Wild Edibles Journal” title was cut using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge at 1 1/4” in Crystal Blue, part of the Whimsy Assortment cardstock (Z2033). These double sided papers have a gorgeous shiny layer on one side and a wonderful geometric print on the other. I then inked the edges with Crystal Blue ink (Z2504) (to give the letters a bit of depth). I found the “Happy Beautiful World” quote card in the Assortment Journal Spots (Z2042) pack and thought it made a great title for this page.
I set up the next few pages to collect paperwork, general notes, and a title of contents to keep me organized.
I made a pocket to hold paperwork using a quote card and gluing the left and bottom of the square. The “notes” image is from the Artbooking cartridge cut at 1 ¼” cut on real dial size (RDS) in Smoothie and Glacier. The 1-10 numbers image is from the same cartridge and was cut on Smoothie at 6” RDS.
Next week I’ll explain how I made the little note. They are sooo cute; they look like small pages ‘torn’ from a spiral notepad.
