Sketch & Savor | New Year, Different Year

Some stories don’t happen the way we expect.
This New Year’s Eve layout is proof of that.

I originally designed this page for ringing in 2025. The intention was there. The sketch was ready. The embellishments were cut. And then… I fell asleep before 9pm. No midnight photos. No confetti cleanup. Just a very real end to a very real year WITHOUT PHOTOS!

Two-page New Year's scrapbooking layout featuring pinwheel embellishments.
Some ©Stampin’ Up! products were used on this layout.

Instead of scrapping what didn’t happen, I’ve decided to pivot. This layout is getting a second life by looking back at a previous New Year’s Eve that I never documented. Same feeling. Same celebration energy. Different date. A quick little tweak and suddenly this layout will tell the story that was waiting patiently in my photo library all along.

Why This Sketch Works

The real win here is the pinwheels. Lots of them. They bring instant party energy without needing themed papers or specialty products. Cut them from scraps, mix patterns, or keep them neutral. Either way, they do the heavy lifting and make the layout feel celebratory fast.

Here’s Your Permission Slip

If you missed scrapping a holiday because life got in the way, you’re not behind. You’re just telling the story out of order. Look back. Change the date. Let the memory still have its moment.
