Picture My Life Dolly Layout

Hello All!

I’d like to share with you this Picture My Life layout of Dolly, my little one’s lovie. Dolly has been a huge part of our lives for the last two years and this layout shows Dolly in various pictures through time.

This layout may not look like it, but this was a great challenge for me to complete. First, instead of using pre-made cards for this Picture My Life project I made my own. Second, I used pages TORN out from the My Crush In the Pink Book.

That’s right, torn out of the book. As I’ve mentioned before, my personal style is very thoughtful and organized and this is my first time ripping pages out of any type of book.

After this initial threshold, things went well. I cut the papers down to the right size, sometimes fussy-cutting to highlight existing designs from the My Crush book pages, then laying out the pieces in a pattern that I liked. I was a few slots short, so I added a strip of design paper to a piece of white. Notice that I left the ripped edges from the My Crush book as added design elements, but also to highlight where the paper came from.

I made a word collage with the days of the week stamps that came in the Cricut Artbooking collection and stamped it a few times. Notice that I made a mistake in my stamping, but covered it up with the notebook page cut from the Artbooking cartridge and used it as my title.

The multi-sized Flip Flaps gives this layout an interactive feature – and additional space for journaling and more pictures. I adhered the square Flip Flap on top of page and adhered the rectangular Flip Flap to the inside of the pocket so it will flip up.

StazOn ink is great for stamping directly onto the pictures and I filled in the dates using a thin point sharpie. The last step was to use the In the Pink Assortment cards and stickers, washi tape, some dimensional elements, and bubbly enamel shapes as embellishments until I was satisfied with the look.

Next time, I will describe how to make reusable stencils using plastic dividers and the Artbooking cartridge.

Until then, Happy Scrapping!
