Reflections at 55 – Capturing Milestones
Birthdays have a funny way of nudging us into reflection, don’t they?
This year, as I celebrated my 55th on August 27th, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of a big celebration, like my husband had, it ended up being a “typical day” so I created a scrapbook layout that compares where I am now to what I was doing at the same ages as my three daughters. The result? A heartfelt spread I’m calling Reflections at 55.
A full-circle moment worth savoring.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see the milestones that shaped me during the same seasons of life my girls are in right now. At 37, I was at the very height of my Close To My Heart papercrafting career, consistently earning incentive trips and living that dream. At 31, I was just starting my journey with Close To My Heart, full of ambition and possibility. And at 26, I was trying to have baby #3… but it took her a few more years for her to ultimately make her debut.
The left page highlights my own milestone at 55, framed with layers of patterned paper and a cheerful banner across the top. The right page features each of my daughters with their current ages—37, 31, and 26—mirroring the very stages of life I reflected on. While the right side leaves space for direct-to-page journaling, I opted to tuck away hidden journaling instead, which I’ll be sharing in my upcoming Storytelling Membership (coming soon)!
To bring this reflection page to life, I mixed and matched several Stampin’ Up! paper packs, including Floral Charm, Country Woods, Celebratory Sips, and Peaceful Garden. The combination of soft blues, neutrals, and floral accents helped me strike the perfect balance between timeless and celebratory.

Turning 55 feels like a sweet milestone worth savoring, and creating this layout was the perfect way to honor where I’ve been and where I’m heading. It reminded me that every stage of life holds its own kind of magic—and scrapbooking is the best way to capture it before it slips away.
