Rookie Year Scrapbook Layout
Step up to the plate, scrapbook fans — this week’s Sweet Start Sketch is a grand slam! ⚾️ Whether you’re celebrating a big milestone or simply want to showcase a favorite moment, this two-page spread proves that baseball isn’t just for the ballpark. It’s the perfect layout to highlight your own little “rookie of the year.”

My daughter wanted to celebrate my grandson’s first birthday with a Rookie Year theme, and the details couldn’t have been cuter. I even created baseball cards using a few apps and a laminator so guests could take home an adorable keepsake. However, the highlight of the day? Watching my little BFF dive face-first into his cake without ever touching it with his hands. My daughter even bought him a little “Lil Rookie” jersey for everyone to sign — a sweet memento from a day that marked his very first big league birthday.
For this layout, I teamed up my Cricut cuts with Stampin’ Up! cardstock to get that crisp, bold look. A mix of Misty Moonlight, Real Red, and White Willow cardstock kept things classic, while the starry blue background paper from my stash gave everything a fun, celebratory vibe. A baseball, bat, foam finger, and birthday icons rounded out the sporty theme while keeping the photos as the real MVPs.

No matter how fast the years fly, layouts like this remind me why I scrapbook in the first place — to capture those fleeting, messy, magical moments before they slip away. Rookie seasons don’t last forever, but the stories we preserve will always keep the memories alive on the page.
Layout’s a home run, story’s in the books — time to savor the sweet memories. 💕
