It’s Week #1 of my Story 52 journey with Stacy Julian – Yay! …Can I just say that I am super excited to get this thing started? I just hope the excitement doesn’t fizzle out after a few weeks. After all, I’m easily distracted by the new and shiny… SQUIRREL!
One big win, so far, is that I’m currently up to date on all of the information provided in the online classroom. Woohoo! This is HUGE for me! The only thing lingering is the warm-up assignment, but it’s optional. …I do plan on doing it, though. I just need to gather my thoughts…
Speaking of thoughts! Stacy sent me this penny for my thoughts, and of course I’m thinking I need to use it on my warm-up title page. See how easy that was? Now I just need to get it created…but I digress.
Stacy also sent out this fun Story Deck of Cards that are suppose to help me design my stories each week…
She even said I could officially call her my ‘dealer’, but we’ll see if I become addicted to the process first – lol.
ANYWAY… to kick off my first assignment, I asked my husband Rafe to draw my first 4 categories for me. I purposely did this so that I could blame him if the process of creating became too difficult. ;)
My Story 52 Week 1 thought Process:
The cards Rafe drew for me this week included…
- All the Things.
- Laugh out loud.
As I started creating, I couldn’t help but remember back to when I first became a Starbucks addict. Oh how I loved Valencia Orange Refreshers! This got me thinking about a piece of Close To My Heart paper from YEARS AGO that had little oranges on it. So I went looking through my retired stash and found it! In that very moment my coffee layout turned into an orange layout and I was easily able to fulfill all of the elements on the chosen cards… Celebrating my love of Valencia Orange Refreshers while paying tribute with pretty paper and a pun!
While I was creating my page I also decided to do a search online to see if I could find a copycat recipe for the Starbucks Valencia Orange Refresher – which I did! It needed some tweaking, though. So, after playing with the flavors a little bit, here is what I came up with (right), followed by my scrapbook page recipe (shown below).
My ‘Valencia Orange’ Page Recipe:
- Whole Latte Love Stamp Set
- (1) piece of Kraft Cardstock
- (1) sheet of Pretty Mix-in Paper
- (1-2) sheets of pretty patterned paper.
- I used a CTMH Retired ‘Taste of Summer’ paper
- (4) sheets Cardstock:
- Espresso Ink Pad
- Gold Glitter Gems
- Journal Pen
- Paper Trimmer
- Cricut Maker

Until next week my friend… Stay safe, healthy and creative!
