To Infinity, and Forever – Candyland Style!

Last week, when I made a promise to finish telling my love story with Rafe, I never dreamed it would come alive Candyland style… but yet here we are with a colorful, Cricut-cut celebration of the hilariously sweet moment that almost left us stuck in the licorice patch.

The LAYOUT:

While I didn’t intend for this week’s layout to be so Cricut cut heavy (honestly, I thought I was going to keep it simple!). But I promised I’d tell the story, and this one deserved a little extra sugar and flair. Plus, each layout I’m creating right now is going into my own albums—so I want to make sure I’m completely happy with how they turn out. Sometimes that means spending a little extra time making it just right.

The STORY:

After FIVE YEARS of dating, I finally told Rafe I loved him. But this wasn’t a candlelit dinner or a romantic stroll through Fantasyland kind of moment…

Rafe had been nothing but patient with me from the very beginning. He said “I love you” early on—more than once—but I just couldn’t bring myself to say it back. Not because I didn’t feel it, but because the words held so much weight for me. Still, I dropped little clues along the way… thoughtful gestures, quiet moments, and the kind of love that builds slowly, deeply, and undeniably over time.

Fast forward to a trip to Disneyland, riding Toy Story Mania, when the ride suddenly broke down in front of the Candyland sign. I looked at him, heart pounding, and then leaned in and whispered, “I love you.”

He shrugged. 😐

I froze.
Cue the panic!

It wasn’t until we got back to our hotel room that evening when he asked me about that moment. Turns out—he thought I was just reading the words on the Candyland heart aloud on the wall in front of us – LOL! We had a good laugh about it, and I clarified—this time, I meant it!
