One Sketch, Two Seasons
Hey sweet friend! Ready to sprinkle some new inspiration on your scrapbooking pages? Today I’m serving up a free sketch sample straight from my bakery, the same kind I share weekly inside my NEW Sketch & Savor Club! This tasty design has been whipped up in two completely different styles to show you just how versatile a good sketch can be. So grab your apron, and your trimmer, and let’s dig in.
When Christmas Came With a TV Guide and a Little Bit of Luck

Some stories don’t live in photo albums. They live in memory. This layout was my way of documenting one of my favorite childhood Christmas traditions: watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer every December. Not on demand. Not recorded. Just hoping you didn’t miss it.
If you grew up in the 1970s, you know the drill. No VCR. No streaming. You either caught the commercial preview or carefully scanned the TV guide, then made sure you were home at exactly the right time. Miss it? You waited another year. That anticipation is part of the magic, and that’s the story I wanted this page to hold.
Why This Sketch Works for Nostalgia Stories
This sketch does something really well: it stays calm. The design doesn’t compete with the story or the imagery. It gives the photos room to breathe and lets them carry the emotional weight. That balance is what makes it perfect for memory-based layouts like this, especially when the story matters more than the embellishments.
Yes, You Can Use Internet Photos
Here’s an important permission slip: it’s okay to source photos online when you don’t have personal ones. That’s exactly what I did. Not every meaningful story has a matching snapshot, and that shouldn’t stop you from documenting it. Childhood TV shows, favorite books, albums, traditions—these are real stories, even if the photos come from the internet instead of a shoebox.
Scrapbooking isn’t about proving you were there with a camera. It’s about preserving what shaped you.
Same Layout, Different Feel

One of my favorite things about this sketch is how easily it shifts moods. Swap out the winter nostalgia for lighter colors, softer patterns, and brighter photos, and suddenly this same layout feels fresh and springy. The structure stays calm and balanced, but the story changes completely. Florals instead of snowflakes. Sunlight instead of TV glow. This is where a solid sketch really shines—it adapts to your photos and your season without needing to be reinvented. Same bones. Totally different vibe.
Tell the Stories That Shaped You
This is the heart of Sketch & Savor. We’re telling stories, not chasing perfection. We’re using the products we already own and putting them to work in a way that actually gets pages finished. Inside the club, you’ll find the sketches, cutting guides, and simple design support that help you focus on what matters—the story—without getting overwhelmed.
