Why Scrapbooking Matters More Than Pretty Paper

This past weekend at my scrapbooking retreat, something shifted.

We were sitting around talking, laughing, snacking, and I found myself opening up about my creative struggles. I began sharing the messy truth about transitioning from Close To My Heart to Stampin’ Up!, about trying to find my rhythm again, and questioning what I even want this business to be anymore.

Somewhere in the middle of that conversation, it hit me…

I don’t want to just scrapbook pretty pages anymore. I want to help mamas and mimi’s tell stories that matter, while stressing the importance of doing something with the photos trapped on our phones.

So What’s Changing Around Here?

Not everything—but definitely the heart behind it all. You’ll still get:

  • Weekly Sketch & Savor Club inspiration (because let’s be honest, sketches are my jam),
  • Occasional Takeout Tuesday Kits, but only when I’ve created something fabulous that truly deserves to be turned into a kit.

But moving forward, I’m making it my mission to help you do three things:

  1. Tell more meaningful stories (the kind you actually want your family to remember)
  2. Use the stash you already own (because let’s face it, your paper hoard deserves some spotlight)
  3. Untrap the thousands of photos sitting on your phone right now (before they get lost or accidentally deleted)

I mean let’s be real here—hardly anyone is doing anything with the photos on their phones. Especially not the younger generation. We take the photos, and then we scroll on by. And I don’t want all those little moments to be forgotten just because they never made it out of the cloud. I cherish the days as a young girl when I could just sit on the floor with a photo album and flip through the familiar faces of family and friends.

So I’m begging YOU and the younger generation—the Mamas, the newlyweds, the ones knee-deep in baby photos on their phones—to start paying attention to that electronic device now before phones get lost. Before the details fade. Before the stories get harder to tell… because, believe me, they will.

Scrapbooking isn’t just something we do for ourselves—it’s something we leave behind for them.

Let’s Make Scrapbooking Meaningful and Doable

You don’t have to journal a novel. You don’t need the latest and greatest. You don’t need a full weekend retreat every time you want to get crafty (though hey, those are nice too!).

All you need is a photo, a story spark, and a layout you feel excited to create—any shape, any size.

That’s why I’m:

  • Continuing my Sweet Start Sketch Club for weekly inspiration,
  • Launching my Sketch & Savor membership in July 2025—for scrapbookers who want to go deeper with design and storytelling,
  • And eventually offering Stories From Scratch as my classroom series for learning how to tell better stories without overwhelm.

It’s all part of this bigger picture: helping women like you finally enjoy your photos, your stash, and your stories again.

So if you’ve ever felt stuck between not knowing where to start, where you used to be as a scrapbooker, and where you want to be now—just know you’re not alone. I’m right there with you. And I’m figuring it all out one layout at a time. No more creating layouts around what I think my customers want. I’m now creating layouts around the stories that matter most to MY family, and helping you do the same.

So let’s make this next chapter about storytelling, stash-busing, building friendships, and finally finishing pages we love. What do you say?

You bring the photos. I’ll bring the cupcakes. 🧁
